You Are Making a Positive Difference

Dear FeedER Donors and Volunteers:

At East Bay FeedER this week (May 3, 2020 - May 9, 2020) we’ve made 104 deliveries to 12 different hospitals and clinics, with a total of 4,080 meals served in the past 7 days. This is an increase of 33% in meals served and a 32% increase in the number of deliveries from the week prior.

You’ve enabled FeedER to deliver a total of 14,784 meals since FeedER’s inception on March 19. Your donations have enabled clinic and hospital workers to be nourished while helping local businesses to remain open, demonstrating community at its most ideal. The shelter-in-place order has been extended until the month of June with the battle against COVID-19 ongoing and likely to extend throughout the year, so your donations continue to be critical to maintaining this service to medical workers and local restaurants. We are now working to raise another $200,000 to sustain this program through the end of May and we need your support more than ever.

Please spread the word (e.g., forward this newsletter and/or direct people to our website) and help us reach our new goal. Again, we are 100% volunteer and 100% of your donations go to meals for medical workers.

Additionally, we are in need of hand sewn masks for our restaurant workers. If you’re able to sew and contribute masks, please contact volunteer@eastbayfeeder.com so we can distribute them to where they’re needed.

Our over 60 volunteer delivery drivers have communicated gratitude from restaurants and medical workers--from those working in the ICU and ED to those working at COVID-19 testing sites. They want to say they feel loved. They want to say thank you to you, our donors. They want to say that the meals are the brightest point of their work day. And at Summit, the nurses are paying it forward by contributing lunch money that they would otherwise have spent, to the Alameda County Food Bank.

Restaurants too, are grateful. Your donations have enabled them to keep staff employed. Your donations have given them hope.

Bottom line: you are making a positive difference, you are amazing, and we see you.

We want to thank the following restaurants for their participation this week (*indicates restaurants that joined our rotation this week):

The following ED and ICU locations benefited from your support this week:

  • Highland Hospital ED
