We are East Bay FeedER, dedicated to providing delicious, high-quality meals to the healthcare workers on the front lines of the Covid-19 crisis. They help us; we feed them.

 

Eating healthy food prepared with care lifts morale and nourishes the soul as well as the body.

 

Some restaurants have their own donor or investor base that can support more frequent deliveries. We can work with you to facilitate pick up and drop off, so that your meals can be best appreciated by the hospital staff, and so that you don’t duplicate other efforts.

 

If you have your own system for raising funds and you’d like to donate meals to our healthcare workers, please read the information below and then fill out the form at the end.

 

HOW IT WORKS

 

ARRANGING A DELIVERY

We can handle this part, or if you’d rather use your own team we’ll liaise with our hospital contacts on your behalf to schedule deliveries.  

 

Please contact us at least 24 hours in advance of your preferred pickup day—this will allow us time to coordinate with hospitals to identify where there’s a need, and to arrange a driver. 

 

SCHEDULING 

The best times for meal delivery are usually the evening shift changes: 5pm and 11pm. If lunch is what works for your restaurant, we can also accommodate a 12pm pickup. Meals should be hot at the time of pickup and easily re-heatable.

 

REQUIREMENTS

 

We have a minimum donation of 40 meals—if you’d like to prepare more, that’s great too! At least 20% of the meals provided should be vegetarian or vegan.

 

Meals must be: 

  • Prepared with best practices. Our healthcare workers are facing near-constant exposure to the Covid-19 virus as they fight to keep our community healthy; it’s crucial that we protect them from further exposure. Best practices include:

    • Frequent and proper hand-washing (using soap and water and rubbing thoroughly for at least 20 seconds).

    • Routine cleaning and disinfecting of all surfaces.

    • Covering any cuts or abrasions on hands. 

    • Employees showing any signs of illness are prohibited from working.

  • Individually packaged, with accompanying napkins/utensils if requested, ready to be handed out among healthcare staff.

    • Containers and utensils should be new/previously untouched. Covid-19 can survive on cardboard for up to 24 hours, and on plastic and stainless steel for up to three days.
